Time and Attendance Overview

The Time and Attendance System

So you ask yourself, “What is a Time and Attendance System?”  Simply put, a time and attendance system lets you keep track of when your employees show up to work, how long their brakes last, how long their lunch is, and when they actually leave.

Before the Time and Attendance System was developed employers used Punch Card Systems which employees had to manually operate.  The employer would then manually had to enter and calculate the time for each employee before being able to calculate payroll.

“Why not make it simple?” (Andrew Hannam, 2001)

ItsAllAbout Software joined forces with InMarket Systems to bring to you an affordable time recording device which is SIMPLE to use and AFFORDABLE!

Introducing to you our Time & Attendance System!

How does it work?

A reader is positioned at a dedicated clock-on/off spot.  The reader is then wired into a computer.  Employees are given a contactless (RFID) card.

As the employees present the card to the reader, the software automatically records the clock-on/off time.  The reader makes a beeping sound and flashes a green or a red light to indicate to the employee that they have logged on/off successfully.

So what do you get?

This system consists of:

The cards supplied are R.F.I.D (Radio Frequency ID) cards – often called proximity cards by the security industry. Extra cards packs can be purchased. These are ISO cards which means that they are standard credit card size, they are 1mm thick and they can be printed on. Key fobs and other form factors are also available.

An adaptor is supplied to connect the reader to the computer. This is a USB adaptor. The software should be installed before plugging the adaptor into the computer.

The reader sits on the wall and is connected to the computer via the supplied “Cat 5” cable. This is a standard networking cable capable.  Included in a standard package 3 metres is supplied.  Note: As long as a “Cat 5” cable is used, the cable size is not relevant.  Longer or shorter cables can be used to suit installation. Although the cable is the same as is used in networking, the reader must NOT be connected to a normal network via this cable. The cable must connect to the supplied USB or Serial computer adaptor. The reader is easily attached to the wall using double sided tape because of its extremely light weight. The card is read by bringing it into proximity with the reader (typically within 8cm).

The software is supplied on a single CD for Microsoft Windows based computers. Insertion of the CD will automatically cause the installation to start. The kit supplies an “Installation Guide” to be used by the installer; a “User Guide” to provide basic help for the first time user of the system; and a license agreement for the software.
